The ambition behind Hunt’s Paper Factory was to create a 34-flat community for young people flocking to this thriving part of London. To inject some personality into the former factory, we paid as much attention to the small details as the big—features included individually designed encaustic tile doormats, heritage door plates, bespoke lighting and an artist-commissioned mural in the common stairwell.
With the exterior being one of the development’s key features, we wanted to create a link between in and out. Terrazzo flooring and an abundance of foliage were used to soften the exterior, while extensive glazing in each unit helped bring the outside in. Communal spaces with bespoke seating and integrated lighting were created to foster a sense of community.
